Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly lyrics that tackled issues of sexuality and identity with a the most outrageous comedy perspective prior to increasing her appeal to Hollywood. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents in Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came through the trumpet. Classical, jazz and hip-hop lessons began when she was a teenager. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies in college even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing during a brief time. It wasn't until she began focusing on music until after she graduated. In 2012 her track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success through the Internet eventually landing on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album included other popular hits, including the body positive Queef as well as the wink-inducing hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly into another venture Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in the year 2015. She decided to pursue acting careers following her completion of two ventures as a musician and author. She has appeared in films including Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role during the year 2018, appearing in a handful of high profile films, including Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
